KORE H1 Helicopter Pilot Headset (Mono) with Headset Bag - U-174 Plugs

I bought this headset about a month ago to use for my helicopter pilot training, looking for something that wouldn't bankrupt me like the big-name noise-canceling brands but could still handle the roar of a cockpit. I also plan to keep using it for the Cessna I intend to purchase once I get my license, so versatility was a factor.​It is a perfect find for a student pilot imho. The passive noise reduction is surprisingly effective; the 24dB rating definitely takes the edge off the engine noise, allowing me to hear instructor comms clearly without straining. The gel ear seals are a huge upgrade over standard foam pf the headphone they provide during the course: they create a tight seal around sunglasses without digging into my temples. I also really like the dedicated volume knob on the earcup, which is easy to find by feel when you are busy flying. The build feels rugged enough to survive being tossed into a flight bag, and the included carry bag is a nice touch for keeping dust off.​There is one thing to be aware of: the clamping force is a bit high out of the box. It can feel a little tight on the jaw after a long two-hour cross-country flight, so I stretched them for 3 days over a stack of book slightly larger than my head. These are insanely comfortable. I am not a pilot at all, but I plug these into the aux on my laptop and the outside world basically disappears. Kids making noise, dog walking around, someone talking in the next room, gone. I put them on and it’s like I stepped into my own quiet little bubble which works GREAT for my noisy brain.The ear cups are super soft and don’t squeeze my head, which is huge for me because I get annoyed fast with tight headphones. I’ve worn them for long stretches while working and watching stuff and never felt that “get these off my head right now” feeling. They feel solid too, not flimsy or cheap, which I appreciate.Only downside, they’re definitely big and not something you casually toss in a bag like earbuds. But that’s also kind of why they work so well. If you want serious noise blocking and comfort and don’t care about looking like you’re about to fly a helicopter while sitting at your laptop, these are absolutely worth it.

I've heard of Kore Aviation before and was happy to try out this H1 headset. It's kinda nice to have some reliable for passengers that doesn't cost $600+ (for a high end ANR set.)The gel ear seals are really nice. They mold well to my head and stay comfy. Even though it's passive, the isolation is keeps coms clear without static.One little drawback is that the audio is mono only. Music through the AUX port feels a bit flat without stereo, but not terrible.The build quality feels sturdy (the thick coiled cord is legit) and the included bag is good for more protection. I'd say this brand is solid for anyone needing a professional-grade helicopter headset (on a budget.)
